To be honest, I've been pretty frustrated with the situation at Smyser lately. One of the biggest red flags for me is how little support there seems to be for student wellness—I noticed they recently had to pull back unspent summer funds for student engagement and support, which is the last thing our kids need right now. The school feels a bit neglected and the facility maintenance always seems to be an issue in the district agendas. It’s also tough because the communication regarding illness is super hit-or-miss. When stuff like the flu or stomach bugs go around, you’re basically hearing it from other parents in the pickup line rather than the office. It feels like they are just stretched too thin to really focus on keeping the environment clean or prioritizing wellness. Between the maintenance concerns and the lack of robust student support programs, I'm definitely feeling uneasy about the health environment here.
