  • Honestly, I'm a bit mixed on Chicago Academy. On one hand, the teachers really seem to care and it's nice they have the Pre-K programs on-site, but the physical building is showing its age. I saw on some records that they've been having issues with the boiler systems and pipe valves lately, and you can definitely feel it—the temperature in the hallways is super inconsistent during the winter, which doesn't help when things are already circulating. My daughter says her classroom is either a sauna or freezing, which isn't great for kids with allergies or asthma. It’s a decent neighborhood school, but I wish the district would invest more in the actual infrastructure and air quality so the kids stay healthier during peak flu season.

  • My youngest is at Chicago Academy and honestly, the health protocols are pretty solid for a CPS school. They’re super quick about sending out emails if a case of strep or something starts going around the classroom, which I appreciate so I can watch for symptoms early. The nurse is a sweetheart and really patient with my daughter when she gets anxious about her inhaler. It’s not perfect—the bathrooms could definitely be cleaner by the end of the day—but overall, I feel like they actually care about keeping the kids healthy and not just hitting attendance numbers.
