  • Honestly, Canty is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the health environment. On one hand, I know they’ve won awards for wellness programs in the past, but day-to-day it feels like typical CPS. My biggest gripe lately was hearing about a wasp nest right outside one of the classroom windows—it took way too long for them to get it removed, and as a parent of a kid with allergies, that’s just stressful. The school is decent about integrating movement and arts, but the communication regarding maintenance issues like pests or general building upkeep could be a lot faster. It's not the worst, but keep an eye on things if your kid is sensitive to that stuff.

  • Honestly, Canty does a pretty solid job keeping things clean, especially for a bigger CPS elementary school. My daughter is in the arts program and she’s always mentioning how they have hand sanitizer everywhere in the studios. The nurse there is super responsive too—whenever there’s a stomach bug going around the grade, we get an email update pretty quickly so we can keep an eye out. My only tiny gripe is that the sick-child policy can be a bit strict about coming back, but I guess it keeps the classrooms from turning into germ factories, so it's a fair trade-off!
