  • Pritzker is okay, but I have mixed feelings about the health and wellness side of things. On one hand, the school is really proactive about safety—I remember them being super transparent and quick with communication when there was ICE activity in the neighborhood, which helped keep the kids calm. But honestly, the day-to-day cleanliness can be a bit hit or miss, and it feels like there's always a bug going around the lower grades. With over 600 kids in that building, it feels like the staff is spread pretty thin, and I wish they had more dedicated mental health resources for when things get stressful. It’s a solid neighborhood school, but don't expect a spa-like wellness environment.

  • Pritzker is okay, but I've got mixed feelings lately. On the one hand, the school usually feels pretty clean and they seem to stay on top of the basics for a CPS school in Wicker Park. I also appreciate that they’ve taken safety and student anxiety seriously in the past when things are happening in the neighborhood. However, the nurse situation is a bit hit or miss—sometimes it feels like they’re stretched way too thin, which is frustrating when your kid has a specific health need or gets hurt at recess. The communication about bugs or seasonal stuff going around can be a little slow too. It’s a good school academically, but the health support feels like a typical big city public school—functional, but definitely not going above and beyond.

  • As a parent with a child at A. N. Pritzker Elementary in Wicker Park, I feel very comfortable with the overall health and safety environment at the school. It’s a PK–8 CPS neighborhood magnet with a Regional Gifted Center and strong fine-arts focus, but day to day what I notice most is that classrooms and common areas are generally clean, organized, and well-supervised, with a manageable 15:1 student–teacher ratio. From a health perspective, we’ve had the usual run of colds, but nothing out of the ordinary for an elementary school our size, and teachers are good about sending kids to the nurse, encouraging handwashing, and letting families know when something is going around. There is a school nurse on site and a Wellness committee working on nutrition awareness and physical activity, which shows up in things like better lunch choices and chances for kids to move during the day. Recess and arts classes (dance, drama, music) give my child regular exercise and stress relief, which I see as a big part of their overall well‑being. The building itself feels secure—controlled entry, staff who know the kids, and a principal who is visible and engaged in the halls. The school has an A‑ overall rating on Niche and a solid reputation academically, but from a parent perspective, what matters to me is that my child feels safe, supported, and happy to go to school each morning, and Pritzker has consistently delivered that.
