I honestly want to love the magnet program at Turner-Drew, but the attendance and health environment are really stressing me out. The chronic absenteeism rate is super high—last I checked it was over 30%—and you can really feel it in the classroom culture. It’s hard for the kids to stay on track when half the class is out sick or just absent, and I don't feel like the school does enough to address the root wellness issues or keep the building as clean as it should be. With the student-to-teacher ratio being what it is, I worry my kid isn't getting enough individual attention when they're feeling off or need a break. It feels like the school is just perpetually playing catch-up with germs and missed days, and honestly, the communication from the front office about health protocols is pretty spotty.
