  • Honestly, Brain Box is just okay. It’s located on a pretty busy stretch of Ashland, so I always worry about the air quality and the noise, but they seem to handle the day-to-day sickness okay. They are part of the Preschool For All and Head Start programs, which means they do have to follow certain wellness standards and self-assessments, but it feels like they're often stretched thin. The communication about when a bug is going around the classroom could definitely be a bit faster—sometimes I find out my kid was exposed after he's already home with a fever. It's a decent option if you need the local neighborhood childcare, but I wouldn't say the health and wellness side of things is anything extraordinary. Typical daycare germs are definitely a constant battle here.

  • I’ve had my little one at Brain Box for about a year now and honestly, the cleanliness is what stands out to me. Every time I drop off, I see the staff wiping down the cubbies and keeping the play areas tidy, which is a big relief since we know how daycares can be germs hubs. They are pretty strict about the fever policy—if your kid is warm, you’re getting a call immediately—but I’d rather they be over-cautious than have everyone getting sick at once. They’ve been really good about communicating when a flu bug is going around the classroom so we can stay on top of it at home. My only minor gripe is the pick-up area can feel a bit crowded and chaotic during cold and flu season, but overall they do a solid job keeping the environment healthy for the kids.
