  • Honestly, mixed feelings about Healy. On one hand, the building is generally kept up pretty well and they recently highlighted how clean and safe the physical spaces are in the master plan meetings, which I do see when I'm there for drop-off. But the communication lately has been super weird and stressful—there was a whole situation with a teacher going missing recently that had everyone on edge, and the school's response felt a bit slow. It's tough because the academics are there, but between the high student-teacher ratios and the general CPS chaos, I feel like the individual wellness of the kids can get lost in the shuffle. It's not a bad school, but I wish the focus on mental health and staff stability was as strong as the focus on test scores.

  • Honestly, I’ve been pretty happy with the health vibe at Healy. The school actually feels clean when you walk in, which isn't always the case with CPS buildings. My kids say their classrooms don't feel stuffy or gross, and the school recently shared some updates about how they’re modernizing the physical spaces to keep them safe and tidy. It’s comforting to know they’re on top of facility maintenance. We did have a bit of a scare recently with news about a teacher going missing, which definitely rattled the community's sense of wellness and security for a minute, but the school handled communication as best as they could. Overall, the illness policy is standard—they’re pretty firm about the 24-hour fever-free rule—and I don't feel like my kids are coming home with every single bug going around the neighborhood.
