  • To be honest, the health situation at Pershing is a bit of a mixed bag, leaning towards frustrating. While the 'Leader in Me' stuff looks great on Facebook, the reality in the building is different. The attendance rates have been shaky and kids seem to be passing bugs around constantly without much communication from the office. I’ve noticed some maintenance work being done lately, which is good because the ventilation in some rooms feels super stuffy and dated. It’s hard for the kids to focus on wellness when the environment feels ‘partially organized’ at best. I wish they’d prioritize basic cleanliness and better sick-day protocols as much as they do their magnet programs.

  • Pershing is decent overall, but the health stuff can be a bit of a mixed bag. They're pretty strict about the '24-hour fever free' rule before kids can come back, which is good for keeping the germs down, but I do wish the communication was a little faster when something like strep or HFM starts going around the classrooms. The building is older, so you definitely see some wear and tear, but the custodial staff seems to work hard to keep the high-touch areas wiped down. It's a typical CPS magnet—busy and a bit chaotic, but they handle the basics like scraped knees and ice packs well enough through the front office.
