Jeanne Kenney YMCA Day Care

It's a decent spot for the neighborhood and being a YMCA program, you know they have the basic safety protocols in place. The facility is generally kept clean and I haven't had any major issues with how they handle the usual daycare sniffles, but the communication can be a bit hit or miss depending on which staff member is at the desk that day. It's a smaller center with a 64-kid capacity, so it doesn't feel as chaotic as some of the bigger places, but I do wish they had a bit more of a proactive wellness strategy instead of just the standard YMCA handbook stuff. Overall, it's a solid, average option if you need full-time care in Greater Grand Crossing, but nothing that's going to blow you away in terms of health resources.

My toddler has been at Jeanne Kenney for a few months now and I'm honestly pretty happy with the health vibe there. The staff is really strict about the sick policy—if a kid has a fever, they’re going home, period. It can be a hassle for work, but it keeps the classroom from becoming a total germ fest. I've noticed the teachers are always wiping down the tables and toys when I drop off in the morning, which makes me feel better about the Chicago flu season. My only gripe is that communication about minor sniffles in the class could be a little faster, but overall they do a great job keeping things sanitized and the kids active.
