Detour 2 Discovery Day School

Honestly, I’m pretty middle of the road with Detour 2 Discovery. The facility itself usually looks clean when I drop off my son, and they seem to stay on top of the basics like diaper changes and hand washing. However, it’s a typical city daycare where once one kid gets a sniffle, the whole class has it by Friday. I wish their sick policy was a little more strictly enforced because it feels like there's always a lingering cough in the room. Communication about outbreaks (like hand, foot, and mouth or flu) is okay, but it’s not the most proactive I’ve seen. It’s a convenient spot in the South Loop and the teachers are sweet, but don't expect a 'wellness-focused' miracle—just your standard urban daycare health experience with the usual germs.

Honestly, Detour 2 Discovery has been a solid choice for us over on Wabash. The facility always smells clean when I walk in, which is a major win for a downtown daycare. They’re super strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain when you have to miss work, but it definitely keeps the seasonal bugs from wiping out the whole classroom. I also love that they actually get the kids moving even though we’re in a more urban spot; they really prioritize that daily activity which is great for my toddler's energy levels.
