Honestly, I’m pretty frustrated with the situation at Chalmers lately. My youngest is in the preschool program and it feels like the building is always having some kind of maintenance issue. I saw in the board notes that they’re having major problems with the chiller and AC system again—it’s hard for the kids to stay focused or even stay healthy when the ventilation and temp control are so spotty in an old building. On top of that, the attendance at the school is hovering way too low, and you can really feel it. It seems like kids are constantly out sick, and I don't feel like the school is doing enough to get ahead of it or keep the classrooms properly cleaned. It's a lot of 'neighborhood school' heart but not enough actual resources to keep it a healthy environment for the little ones.
