  • Being honest, I’m pretty frustrated with the health situation at Plamondon. My main issue is how hard it is to get clear answers when things go wrong—it feels like the school is constantly struggling with attendance issues and the chronic absenteeism is super high. If kids aren't even showing up, it's hard to feel like the 'wellness' programs they talk about in meetings are actually doing anything. Also, the building itself feels like it’s falling apart; seeing budget requests for basic repairs on essential equipment just makes me worry about the general upkeep and air quality in the classrooms. It feels like they are spread way too thin to actually keep things clean and healthy for the kids.

  • Plamondon is okay when it comes to the health stuff, but it's definitely a typical urban school experience. The nurses here are super sweet and they really do try their best, but they aren't in the building every single day which can be a literal headache if your kid gets a fever or something on an off-day. I do appreciate that they are pretty strict about the '24-hour fever free' rule before kids come back to class, though it's a pain for us working parents! My youngest's classroom usually looks clean enough, but you can definitely tell the building is older. I wish they'd be a bit faster with the emails when a bug is going around the grade level, but overall it’s a decent environment for the neighborhood.
