  • Honestly, Skinner North is pretty solid when it comes to the health vibes. I remember seeing them highlighted in some 'Fit to Learn' programs, and you can tell the administration actually prioritizes wellness instead of just talking about it. The school is generally clean, and I haven't noticed the kind of 'perpetual grime' you see in some other CPS buildings. Their communication about seasonal bugs is decent too—they're pretty strict about the fever-free policy, which can be a pain for working parents but definitely keeps the classroom outbreaks down. My only minor gripe is that since the kids are so academically focused, sometimes they seem a bit stressed, but the school does try to incorporate movement and healthy habits into the day to balance it out.

  • So Skinner North is obviously a top-tier school for academics, but the wellness side of things feels a bit secondary. My kid loves the vibe, but with the high-pressure environment, I really wish they focused more on mental health breaks. I also saw some public records about 'emergency coil repairs' for the HVAC system recently, which makes sense because the classrooms have felt pretty stuffy and poorly ventilated at times. It’s definitely on my mind during flu season. The school is clean enough, but when the kids are this pushed to succeed, I feel like they come to school even when they're a little under the weather just to keep up. It’s an okay environment health-wise, just very intense.
