  • My kid has been going here for the daycare program and it’s okay but definitely has its quirks. While they talk a lot about 'enhanced cleaning' protocols on their site, it's still an older building in the Near North Side and the ventilation feels a bit stuffy in some of the basement-level areas. They’re super strict with the sick policy—if your kid even looks like they have a sniffle, you’re getting a call—which is good for germs but a total headache for working parents. Also, since it’s more of a cultural center first and a daycare second, the health staff situation isn't as robust as a dedicated school; there really isn't a full-time school nurse dedicated just to the kids if someone gets hurt or really sick. It’s clean enough, but don't expect a top-tier wellness program or a fancy playground for physical activity.

  • Honestly, I’ve been really impressed with how they keep the daycare area at Alliance Française. Since it’s a shared cultural center, I was a little worried about germs from all the foot traffic, but the kids' rooms are tucked away and super clean. They’re pretty strict about the '24 hours fever-free' rule, which is annoying when you're a working parent, but it definitely keeps the revolving door of stomach bugs at bay compared to other places we've been. Communication is good too—they usually send an email right away if hand, foot, and mouth or something else is going around. I also love that they try to get the kiddos moving even though they don't have a giant traditional playground right there; they’re creative with the space they have.
