  • I honestly have mixed feelings about Lionel Hampton. On one hand, the arts program is great, but the health and wellness side really worries me. The chronic absenteeism is around 32%, which is huge, and it feels like there's always something going around the classrooms because the attendance is consistently low. It’s hard for the kids to stay healthy when the school environment feels so stretched thin—the student-to-teacher ratio is over 25:1, so I don't think the staff can really keep an eye on who is coming in sick or if things are being wiped down properly. Plus, it’s a struggle to get a straight answer on their wellness policies when everyone is so overwhelmed. It just doesn't feel like a priority right now.
