  • Honestly, I’m pretty frustrated with the situation at Carroll-Rosenwald lately. It feels like there’s always something breaking down and they just patch it up. I recently saw on some official maintenance reports that they’ve had issues with the water systems not working right and even problems with the cleaning vacuums/chemical solutions. When you have little ones in preschool, you expect the building to be spotless and the facilities to work perfectly, but it feels like the maintenance is always playing catch-up. It makes me really worried about the overall hygiene and what the kids are actually breathing in or touching while they're there. Communication about these facility issues is basically non-existent unless you go looking for the reports yourself. I want to love the specialty programs, but the basic health and safety of the building need a lot of work.

  • My youngest is in the preschool program at Carroll-Rosenwald and honestly, it’s been pretty solid for a CPS school. The classrooms look clean whenever I drop him off, and I’ve noticed they’re really on top of making sure the kids wash their hands before snack time. Communication about stuff like pink eye or RSV going around is usually pretty quick via email, which I appreciate because it gives me a heads-up to watch for symptoms. My only gripe is that the sick policy can be a little strict—they sent him home for a runny nose that was clearly just allergies—but I guess I'd rather they be safe than have the whole class catch something. It feels like a safe, healthy environment for the little ones.
