To be honest, I’ve been pretty worried about the health side of things at House of Kidds lately. Every time I drop my son off, the rooms feel super cramped and there's a lot of coughing going around without much being done about it. I saw they have a High Risk status on their city food and health records, which makes me really nervous about how clean the kitchen and play areas actually are. Communication is also pretty hit-or-miss; I’ve had to find out from other moms in the neighborhood about kids being out sick with the stomach flu because the center didn't send out an alert. It feels like they’re understaffed and just trying to keep their heads above water, so the actual wellness and cleaning protocols are definitely slipping.

Honestly, House of Kidds has been a solid choice for us in Ashburn. The place always smells clean when I drop off my son, which is a huge relief compared to other daycares we toured. They’re pretty strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain when you have to call out of work, but it definitely keeps the stomach bugs from spreading through the whole classroom every other week. Communication is pretty good too; they usually send a quick note or let us know at pickup if something like hand-foot-and-mouth is going around so we can keep an eye out. My only small gripe is I wish they did a bit more outside play when it’s chilly but not freezing, just to get some fresh air flowing, but overall the health vibe there is great.
