Joseph Lovett Elementary School

Honestly, the health and wellness culture at Lovett is much better than I expected for a CPS school. The huge edible garden is the real star—it’s not just for show, the kids actually use it and it helps them understand where healthy food comes from. It’s nice to see a school actually walking the walk when it comes to nutrition. The building is generally clean, and I haven't seen the constant 'revolving door' of illnesses that some other neighborhood schools deal with, which makes me feel like their sanitization and sick-child policies are actually being followed. Communication from the nurse's office is usually pretty quick if something pops up during the day. Overall, it really feels like they prioritize a healthy environment for the kids.

Honestly, I’ve been pretty happy with how Lovett handles everything. It’s a neighborhood school and it actually feels clean when you walk in, which isn’t always the case with CPS. My youngest is in the preschool program and I’ve had zero issues with the facility or how they look after the kids' health. Communication is usually on point if something is going around, so I’m not left guessing if it’s just a cold or something more. It feels like they actually care about the wellness side of things instead of just rushing the kids through the day.
