  • I'm honestly pretty concerned about the health environment at Schubert. The chronic absenteeism rate is over 25%, which is a huge red flag because it feels like there’s always a bug going around and no real plan to get it under control. The building itself is older and definitely looks it—the ventilation in the classrooms isn't great, and when you combine that with a lack of communication from the office about when kids are out sick, it’s frustrating. It feels like we're just waiting for the next flu or cold to hit every other week. I wish the school put more work into the actual physical wellness of the building and kept us in the loop better. Right now, it just feels like the bare minimum is being done.

  • So far, our experience at Schubert has been pretty solid health-wise. The front office is really diligent about calling if a kid is running even a slight fever, which can be annoying when you're at work, but honestly, it keeps the classroom bugs from spreading too fast. During the peak of flu season, you can tell the custodial staff is working overtime because the hallways don't have that typical 'old school' smell, and they actually keep the hand sanitizer stations filled. My only gripe is that communication about lice or pink eye outbreaks can be a bit slow sometimes—usually, I hear it from other moms in our group chat before the official email goes out. Overall though, it feels like a safe, clean environment for the kids.
