  • Honestly, I’m pretty worried about the environment at Everett. The chronic absenteeism rate is over 30%, which is a huge red flag—it feels like kids are constantly out sick or just not coming, and the school doesn't seem to have a handle on it. The building is really old and it shows; I've noticed some sketchy spots that look like water damage or mold, and the ventilation is basically non-existent. My kid comes home complaining about how stuffy and dusty the classrooms feel. With the student-to-teacher ratios where they are, I don't think the staff can really keep up with sanitizing everything or monitoring who is coming in with a fever. It’s frustrating because the teachers are nice, but the actual health standards and attendance culture are definitely lacking.

  • Everett is okay when it comes to the health stuff, but it's definitely a typical CPS school experience. The building is older, so cleanliness is about what you'd expect—nothing amazing but they try. I do like that they’re pretty quick to call if my son looks even a little bit off, and their sick policy is standard (24 hours fever-free). My only gripe is the communication when a bug is going around the classroom; sometimes I only find out from other moms in the group chat before the school sends an actual email. They do seem to keep the kids active though, which I appreciate!
