  • Honestly, mixed feelings about Prescott. On one hand, the school culture is great and the kids seem happy, but some of the building maintenance is starting to lag in ways that worry me. I saw some recent reports about windows being off their tracks in the cafeteria and a classroom—that’s a huge ventilation and safety issue during the winter when kids are stuck inside. When you have 400+ kids in an older building, airflow matters so much to keep the stomach bugs from spreading. I wish they'd be a bit more proactive with the facilities so the wellness environment felt more consistent.

  • Honestly, one of the better experiences we've had in CPS. Prescott feels way more 'on it' than most schools when it comes to keeping things clean and organized. The nurse is super responsive, and I actually get a real person on the phone if my kid feels feverish. It's a smaller school building so things can get a little cramped, but I haven't noticed the usual 'school funk' or lingering grime you see in older Chicago buildings. They seem to take the sick-child policy seriously—parents here actually keep their kids home when they're contagious, which is a life-saver for the rest of us. Plus, seeing the recent ADA updates and funding for building improvements on the board agendas makes me feel like they're actually trying to keep the facility in good shape for the kids.
