To be honest, the health environment at Schmid is pretty rough right now. My main concern is that it seems like the building is constantly undergoing emergency repairs just to keep the basic systems like fire pumps running. It makes you wonder what else is being neglected behind the scenes, like the HVAC or ventilation in the older classrooms. I’ve noticed the school struggles with keeping kids in the seats too—attendance is a huge issue here, and it feels like there’s always something going around. With the high chronic absenteeism, it feels like the school doesn't have a solid handle on wellness or even just basic cleanliness to keep the kids from getting sick. Communication from the office regarding health protocols is basically nonexistent unless it's a major emergency.
