  • I'm really torn about Gompers. While the fine arts and gifted programs are a nice draw, the day-to-day health and wellness side of things feels super neglected. Honestly, the biggest red flag for me is the chronic absenteeism—I've heard it's well over 25%, which says a lot about the general well-being of the student body. It feels like kids are constantly out sick and the school doesn't have a great handle on keeping the environment healthy or communicating what's going around. With it being a PK-8, you'd think there would be more focus on keeping the facility spotless, but it just feels run down and 'average' at best. There's even some confusion online about if the place is still fully operational or closing, which doesn't exactly instill confidence in how stable the environment is for my kids.

  • Tbh, I’m pretty worried about the health side of things at Gompers. While the fine arts stuff is cool, the building itself is super old and feels like it hasn’t been updated since it was a polio clinic decades ago. The ventilation is questionable at best, and it just doesn't feel very clean lately. On top of that, I’ve noticed a lot of kids are constantly out sick and the school doesn't really communicate well when something like a stomach bug or flu is going around. With a 'C-' grade on Niche, it's clear the school is struggling with more than just test scores—the overall wellness environment just feels neglected.
