I honestly have mixed feelings about sending my kid here lately. The school building is pretty old, and it feels like there’s always something breaking down. I saw in the district reports that they’ve been dealing with leaking expansion joints and plumbing issues in the risers, which makes me worry about the overall air quality and dampness in the classrooms. Whenever there's a leak in an old Chicago building like this, my mind immediately goes to mold. Communication from the office about illness outbreaks is also pretty hit-or-miss; I usually find out a stomach bug is going around from the other moms in our group chat rather than an official notice. Plus, with the budget transfers and constant repairs, it feels like they’re just patching things up instead of actually keeping the environment healthy and clean for the kids.
