Minnie Mars Jamieson Elementary School

Honestly, the health and wellness environment at Jamieson is kind of a mess right now. My biggest worry is how crowded it feels; the student-to-teacher ratio is way too high, and you can really see it when the kids start getting sick. It feels like every time one bug goes around, the whole class catches it because there just isn't enough space or staff to keep things properly sanitized. Plus, the building is showing its age with things like broken fencing and maintenance issues constantly popping up in the board reports, which doesn't make me feel great about the overall air quality or cleanliness inside. Attendance is also a major red flag—there’s a lot of chronic absenteeism, and it doesn't seem like the school has a solid handle on the wellness culture to keep kids healthy and in their seats. It’s frustrating because the teachers are trying, but when the counselor-to-student ratio is this bad, the mental health and emotional support just isn't there for the kids who need it most. Definitely not the 'wellness-focused' environment I was hoping for my child.
