Langston Hughes Elementary School

Honestly, I’m pretty frustrated with the situation at Langston Hughes lately. My kid has been home more than usual because the building climate is so hit or miss. We’ve seen public records about them needing constant 'troubleshooting' for the chiller and power issues, and it shows. There were days last year when the air just wasn't right, and for an elementary school, you'd think they’d have the HVAC and ventilation sorted out by now. It’s hard for the kids to stay focused and healthy when the environment feels neglected. Plus, with the chronic absenteeism rates we're seeing in the district, it feels like the school is struggling to keep a handle on the overall wellness culture. Communication about these building issues is pretty spotty—we usually find out something was broken only after the kids have been complaining about it for a week. I really want to love it here because the architecture is cool, but a pretty building doesn't matter if the basic maintenance and health protocols aren't being met.
