J + L Family Learning Daycare Center

The staff here is super sweet with the kids, but honestly, the communication about illnesses could be a lot better. It feels like every time I turn around another bug is going through the classroom, and I don't always get a heads-up until my kid is already coming down with something. The space looks clean enough for an older building in West Pullman, but I wish they were a bit stricter about the sick-child policy because it feels like some parents are dropping off kids who are clearly under the weather just to avoid missing work. It's a decent neighborhood spot, but definitely middle of the road when it comes to the wellness side of things.

Honestly, J + L has been a lifesaver for our family in West Pullman. The place always smells clean when I drop my son off, which is a huge deal for a daycare. They are super strict about their sick policy—if a kid has a runny nose or a fever, they’re going home—which can be a pain if you're working, but it definitely keeps the 'daycare plague' from spreading to everyone else. The teachers are really good about reminding the little ones to wash their hands, and they usually give us a quick heads-up via text if something like hand-foot-and-mouth is going around the neighborhood. It’s not a fancy corporate spot, but you can tell they actually care about the kids not getting wiped out by germs every other week.
