  • I really want to love Pullman because the leadership seems like they're trying, but I'm honestly stressed out about the health environment here. The attendance numbers for the school are pretty low, and it feels like there's always something going around because kids aren't staying home when they're sick. It’s tough when the staff-to-student ratio is this high—you can tell the teachers are spread thin, and it makes me wonder how much attention is actually being paid to whether the classrooms are being deep-cleaned or if a kid looks like they’re running a fever. We need more than just 'positive leadership'; we need more staff and better follow-through on health protocols so my kid stops coming home with every bug that hits the building.

  • Pullman is actually pretty decent when it comes to keeping the germs at bay. My son is in 3rd grade there, and I've noticed the classrooms usually look tidy and they have the kids use hand sanitizer pretty regularly. Communicating about bugs going around is usually okay—the office sends out those typical CPS mass emails if something specific pops up, though sometimes I wish we got the heads-up a day earlier. The nurses are super sweet, too; my youngest had a scrape at recess and they handled it great and called me right away. It's not a luxury setup or anything, but they really do seem to care about the kids' wellness.
