  • Honestly, Poe is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the health stuff. My kid loves the teachers, but the building is definitely showing its age. Since it's an older school in Pullman, I'm always a little worried about the ventilation and dust, especially during allergy season. They are pretty strict about the sick-child policy, which is good I guess, but I feel like we only get notified about germs circulating once half the class is already out. It’s a small school so the nurse isn't there every single day, which is stressful if your kid has a specific medical need or gets hurt on a 'non-nurse' day. It's okay, but they could definitely be more proactive with communicating about wellness and keeping the facilities updated.

  • Poe is a solid school for health stuff overall! We’ve been here for three years now, and the classrooms always look really clean, which is a huge relief during the winter months. The communication about the latest bugs going around is usually pretty quick—we get an email from the office if a case of strep or something pops up in our kid’s class so we can keep an eye out. My only small gripe is that the nurse is only there a few days a week since it's a smaller CPS school, but the front office staff are total pros and really good about calling if my daughter feels under the weather. They’re strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain for working parents, but honestly, it keeps the whole class from getting sick.
