  • Honestly, I’m pretty worried about the environment at Carter lately. The building feels like it’s struggling to keep up—the latest board notes even mentioned basic equipment like batteries needing replacement, which makes you wonder what else is being deferred. My biggest concern is the attendance and how many kids are out sick constantly; it feels like once one bug hits a classroom, everyone gets it because the ventilation just isn't there and the cleaning seems surface-level at best. With the student-to-staff ratios being what they are in CPS right now, I don't feel like there's enough supervision to really manage wellness or even just make sure the littlest ones in the preschool program are washing their hands properly. It’s frustrating because the teachers try, but the school just doesn't seem to have the resources to maintain a truly healthy space for the kids.
