  • Big Kids Place is a bit of a mixed bag for us. On the positive side, the learning environment is actually pretty impressive—my daughter was picking up Spanish and counting way earlier than I expected. But when it comes to the health and cleanliness side, I’m a little more hesitant. It’s an older urban building and things just don't always feel 'deep cleaned.' Communication about when a cold is going around the classroom isn't the best; I usually find out because my kid comes home with a runny nose rather than getting a heads-up email from the staff. They are also not BBB accredited, which gave me a little pause about their administrative standards. It’s a decent neighborhood spot if you need childcare, but you definitely have to stay on top of them regarding hygiene and making sure they're actually sanitizing the shared toys.

  • Honestly, I’ve been really happy with how they handle things at Big Kids Place. The Woodlawn location is super convenient for us, and you can tell they actually put effort into keeping the rooms clean—it doesn't have that 'stale' daycare smell, you know? They are pretty strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain when you have to call out of work, but it definitely keeps the revolving door of flu and colds way down. Communication is usually via text or quick chats at pickup, and they've always let me know right away if something is going around in the classroom. It's an urban spot so space is a bit tight, but they do a good job keeping the kids active and healthy.
