Sir Miles Davis Magnet Elementary Academy

Honestly, I’m pretty concerned about the health environment at Sir Miles Davis. The chronic absenteeism rate is super high, sitting around 31%, which tells me there’s either a major illness cycle constantly going around or families just aren't feeling supported enough to get kids into the building. It’s hard for the kids to stay healthy when the school feels so under-resourced. We definitely feel the 27:1 student-to-teacher ratio; when that many kids are crowded into one room, every flu or cold just rips through the class in days. I've noticed the communication about outbreaks is pretty spotty—you kind of just have to guess why half the class is missing. I love the magnet focus, but they really need to get the attendance and wellness side of things under control because right now it feels like a bit of a germ factory with very little oversight.
