  • Honestly, I’m pretty worried about the health environment at RBG Elementary. The chronic absenteeism rate is over 20%, which really says a lot about how often kids are getting sick and staying home. It feels like there's always something going around, and I don't think the school's communication about illness outbreaks is as proactive as it needs to be. With the recent talk about school designations and changes in the district, the focus on basic wellness and keeping the building germ-free seems to have slipped. It’s hard to feel good about the school's 'wellness culture' when so many kids are consistently missing class—it makes me wonder if the ventilation is poor or if the sick-child policies just aren't being followed by other parents.

  • I’ve been happy with how Ruth Bader Ginsburg Elementary approaches student health and wellness. The school follows CPS health guidelines, keeps families informed about requirements like physicals and immunizations, and does a good job promoting healthy habits and social-emotional well-being. Communication from the school is clear and consistent, which makes it easy to stay involved. Overall, it feels like a supportive environment where kids’ well-being is taken seriously alongside academics.
