Open Arms Before & After Care LLC

Honestly, Open Arms is just 'okay' for before and after care. The space is usually decent in terms of cleanliness, but like any Chicago daycare, germs spread fast and I feel like I'm constantly getting notifications about something going around. Their sick policy is standard, but sometimes it feels like kids who are clearly under the weather are still there, which is frustrating as a parent trying to keep my own household healthy. The staff is friendly enough but they seem stretched thin during the afternoon rush, so I don't think wellness or mindfulness is really the top priority—it's more about keeping things moving. It gets the job done for working parents, but don't expect any fancy health programs or extra-deep cleaning.

Honestly, I’m pretty frustrated with the health situation at Open Arms. The space on Jeffery Ave is pretty tight, and it feels like every time I pick up my son, half the kids have runny noses and there's no real enforcement of the sick policy. With it being a smaller daycare setting in Chicago, you’d think they’d be more on top of the cleaning, but the facility often feels cluttered and a bit dusty. Communication about when a bug is going around the classroom is basically non-existent until your kid already has a fever. It’s convenient for after-school care, but I’m constantly worried about what he’s picking up there because the wellness culture just isn't a priority.
