Amelia Earhart Options for Knowledge Elementary School

My kid has been at Earhart for a bit now and it’s a bit of a mixed bag honestly. On the one hand, I haven't seen any of the major maintenance issues we hear about at other CPS schools, so it feels relatively clean and safe. But the sick policy feels like every other Chicago school—pretty standard, and the communication about when bugs are going around the classroom isn't always the fastest. It’s a 'Commendable' school academically, which is great, but I wish there was a little more focus on the wellness side of things. It’s definitely not a disaster, but they aren't exactly going above and beyond on health programs either.

My kids have been at Earhart for a couple years now and honestly, the health side of things is pretty solid for a CPS school. The building is kept surprisingly clean considering how many kids are running around, and they’re really good about sending out emails the second a case of strep or something starts going around a classroom. I appreciate that they aren't super lax about the fever policy either—they definitely want you to keep your kid home until they're 24-hour symptom-free, which helps keep the germs down for the rest of us. The only downside is the nurse isn't there every single day of the week, but the office staff is great at handling minor scrapes and calling right away if something seems off. It feels like a safe, healthy spot for the kids.
