  • Honestly, Skinner is a mixed bag when it comes to the health stuff lately. I saw on the recent board agenda that they had to call in repairs for some of the Kaivac cleaning machines because of 'unknown issues,' which makes me wonder how deep-cleaned the floors actually are right now. My kid says the bathrooms are usually okay, but they definitely feel the strain of being such a crowded school in the West Loop. On the plus side, I did see they finally pushed through an order for new air filters for both buildings, which is a relief because the ventilation in these older CPS buildings can be so sketchy during flu season. The school is super high-achieving, but sometimes it feels like they prioritize the academics over just making sure the physical environment is top-notch. It's fine, but you definitely have to stay on top of your own kid's hygiene and hope for the best with the shared spaces.
