  • Nettelhorst is okay, but it definitely feels like a typical big city school. My main gripe is how the building is aging—I saw some recent board meeting notes about them having to fix the fire sprinkler pumps and dry systems, which makes me wonder what else is behind the walls in terms of ventilation or pipes. It's a crowded school in the middle of Lakeview, so when something like the flu or a stomach bug hits, it spreads through the classrooms like wildfire. The teachers do their best with hygiene, but they're dealing with a lot of students at once. Communication from the nurse's office is hit or miss; sometimes you get a heads-up about a case of strep in the class, and other times you only hear about it through the parent group chat. It’s a great community, but honestly, the physical health and wellness side of things feels a bit stretched thin.
