  • LaSalle II Magnet Elementary School has been a strong partner in supporting our child’s overall health and well-being. The school takes safety and cleanliness seriously, and my child has learned good everyday habits like handwashing, mask etiquette when needed, and being mindful of personal space. Recess and movement are treated as important parts of the day, not an afterthought, which really helps with mood and focus once they’re back in the classroom. I also appreciate the way teachers talk about feelings and stress, especially during busy academic periods. They use calm language, encourage kids to take a moment when they feel overwhelmed, and check in regularly with students who seem “off.” My child has picked up simple coping tools at school that we now use at home too, like taking a break, using words to describe emotions, and asking for help sooner rather than later. Nutrition and screen time are handled thoughtfully as well. While it’s still a public school setting, there’s an effort to keep snacks and celebrations reasonable and to prioritize learning and social interaction over screens. Overall, LaSalle II feels like a place where health — physical, emotional, and social — is woven into the school day in ways that really support growing kids.

  • Our family has had a very positive experience at LaSalle II Magnet Elementary School. The academics are strong and my child is challenged in a way that still feels supportive rather than stressful. The world language program is a real highlight, starting a second language so early has broadened my child’s confidence and curiosity about other cultures. The school community feels engaged and welcoming, with a lot of parent involvement and a sense that families actually know each other. The teachers and staff are organized, responsive, and clearly care about students’ growth over time. My child comes home talking about projects, clubs, and friends, which makes it clear that school is a place they feel safe and connected. Like any school, there are a few tradeoffs. The demand for seats is high and transportation options are limited, so getting in and managing the commute can be a challenge for some families. There are also a few enrichment areas we wish were offered more consistently during the school day rather than only after school. But overall, the combination of strong academics, language instruction, and a caring community makes LaSalle II a school we’re grateful to be part of.
