  • I really want to love the IB program here, but the health environment is honestly stressing me out. The chronic absenteeism rate is super high—like, way over 30%—which tells you everything you need to know about how often kids are out sick or just not showing up. It feels like there's always something going around the classrooms. With the school being so small and tucked into North Lawndale, you'd think they’d have a better handle on the wellness culture, but I rarely see proactive communication about illness outbreaks. It’s frustrating because the academic framework is great, but it’s hard for the kids to stay on track when the overall environment feels a bit neglected and attendance is this low.

  • My youngest is at Frazier and honestly, the small school size is a total lifesaver when it comes to germs. Since there are only like 130 kids total, it doesn't feel like a total petri dish every winter. The staff is really responsive too—like, if there's a stomach bug going around the third grade, the teacher is usually pretty quick to send out a heads-up email so we can be on high alert. The building is older but they keep the common areas and classrooms pretty tidy. My only real gripe is that the nurse is shared with other schools sometimes, so if your kid has a midday meds thing, you just have to stay on top of the scheduling. Overall, it's a solid, healthy vibe for North Lawndale.
