Breakthrough Beginners

So far, I've been really happy with the health environment at Breakthrough Beginners. Since they're located right in the FamilyPlex, it feels a bit more modern and cleaner than some of the other daycares in the area. They actually seem to take their wellness support seriously—they have staff trained specifically to handle health and safety, and since they updated their cleaning policies a few years back, I’ve noticed they're pretty on top of it. I really appreciate that they have a dedicated Family Engagement Specialist who checks in. They even kept up with health screenings and evaluations during the rougher patches of the last couple of years, which shows they don't just let things slide. It’s a relief as a parent in East Garfield Park to have a spot that feels safe and doesn't just feel like a germ factory. They're pretty firm on the sick-child policy, which can be a pain if you're working, but it definitely keeps the classroom from getting wiped out every other week.

Honestly, the FamilyPlex is such a great resource for East Garfield Park. Breakthrough Beginners always looks so clean when I drop off my daughter, and I’ve noticed the staff is really on top of wiping down the toys in the preschool room. They have a pretty firm policy about keeping kids home if they have a fever or certain symptoms, which can be a headache when you have to work, but it definitely keeps the colds from spreading through the whole class every week. My only tiny gripe is that sometimes communication about minor stuff like a scraped knee takes a few hours to hit the app, but overall they really care about the kids' wellness.
