First Step Learning 2 INC.

Honestly, I’m pretty disappointed with First Step Learning 2. The building itself on Ashland is okay, but it doesn't always feel like the deepest cleaning happens daily. My little one seems to bring home a new bug every other week, and it feels like the illness policy isn't strictly enforced because there are always kids there with clear symptoms. Communication about outbreaks is basically non-existent, so you're always flying blind. For a center in this area, I expected more focus on keeping the environment sanitized and safe for the toddlers. It's okay in a pinch, but I'm looking elsewhere for somewhere that takes wellness more seriously.

My little one has been at First Step for a few months now. It's a pretty standard neighborhood daycare—the staff is really sweet and they definitely care about the kids, but like any center, the sniffles go around a lot. I've noticed they’re fairly strict about the fever-free rule before kids can come back, which is annoying when you're working but honestly necessary to keep things from getting worse. The building on Ashland is a bit older, but they do a decent job keeping the common areas clean. I do wish they’d send out more frequent email updates when a specific bug is going around the classroom instead of just a quick word at pickup, but overall it’s a solid, safe spot for the area.
