Edgewater Playhouse, LLC

I really wanted to love this place because the location is so convenient, but honestly, the health standards are a bit of a letdown. Being in a storefront, the ventilation isn't great and it always feels super stuffy, especially in the winter when the kids are cooped up. My little one was coming home with a new bug every single week, and I honestly don't feel like they're deep cleaning the toys or common areas as much as they should. Communication about illnesses going around is pretty spotty too—I'd usually find out a stomach bug was hitting the class from another parent before the school ever sent a note. For what we pay, I expected a much tighter ship when it comes to hygiene.

Honestly, overall I'm really happy with Edgewater Playhouse. Being a storefront daycare in the city, you sometimes worry about space, but it’s always super clean when I drop off my daughter. They are actually pretty strict with their sick policy—if a kid has a runny nose that’s not clear or even a slight fever, they’re calling you to pick them up right away. It can be a little annoying if you’re at work, but it definitely keeps the 'daycare plague' from spreading to the whole class! Only downside is I wish they did a bit more organized outdoor time since they're right on Bryn Mawr, but the staff really cares about the kids' hygiene and wellness.
