  • Honestly, I have some real concerns about the environment at Stagg lately. With the school being in Englewood and the high student-to-resource ratios we see in CPS, it feels like the kids don't get the individual health attention they need. The attendance rates in this area are usually a struggle, and it shows—when bugs or viruses go around the classroom, it feels like it just keeps cycling because the communication on sick policies isn't great. While I’ve heard they are trying to bring in more mental health support and maybe some yoga, the actual day-to-day cleanliness of the building and the outdated facilities make it hard to feel like wellness is a top priority. It’s frustrating because the teachers are trying, but the system feels stretched way too thin.

  • My youngest goes to Stagg and honestly it’s a bit of a mixed bag with the health stuff. The classrooms stay mostly clean and I see the janitorial staff working hard, but communication about when bugs like flu or hand-foot-mouth are going around can be kind of slow. I usually find out from other moms in the neighborhood before I get a notification from the office. Their sick policy is standard for CPS—24 hours fever-free—but it's a struggle because there isn't always a nurse on-site every single day of the week if something happens at recess. It’s an okay environment, just feels like they’re doing the best they can with the resources they’ve got in Englewood.
