  • Honestly, I’m pretty concerned about the health environment at Hoyne lately. My kid is constantly coming home with some kind of bug, and the school doesn't seem to communicate much when illnesses are going around the classroom. It feels like the building is showing its age, too—I saw on a board agenda recently that they’ve been having major issues with the boiler and needed emergency troubleshooting. When the heating or ventilation is wonky, it’s just a breeding ground for germs. Plus, CPS data shows chronic absenteeism is pretty high here, which usually means the wellness culture just isn't where it needs to be. I love the arts focus, but I wish they’d put that same energy into making sure the building is clean and the kids are actually healthy enough to show up to class.
