Telpochcalli Elementary School

To be honest, I'm pretty worried about the environment at Telpochcalli. While I love the dual-language aspect, the building itself feels like it’s struggling. I saw some reports about needed infrastructure improvements and you can really tell when you're inside—the ventilation isn't great and some of the older classrooms feel pretty stuffy and neglected. It makes me wonder what the air quality is like for the little kids in the preschool program. Plus, with the way Chicago Public Schools handles staffing, it feels like we never have enough eyes on the kids during flu season. Communication about when kids are getting sick in class is super hit or miss, and I’ve definitely felt pressured to send my child back sooner than I should have just because the system is so rigid. It’s a lot for a parent to manage when the school doesn't seem to prioritize a clean, healthy space.
