Patrick Henry Elementary School

Honestly, sending my kid to Patrick Henry feels like a gamble lately. The building is super old—opened in the 50s—and you can really tell. I’m constantly worried about the air quality and ventilation because the hallways always feel stuffy and kind of 'off.' With CPS budgets being what they are, it feels like basic maintenance like changing furnace filters is probably the last thing on their priority list. My child has missed quite a few days this year because it feels like once one bug hits a classroom, everyone gets it immediately. Communication from the school about illness outbreaks is pretty spotty too; I usually find out from other parents in our group chat before I hear anything official from the office. It's a great neighborhood spot for activities, but as far as a healthy environment for kids to be in all day? I'm not sold. We need better upkeep and much clearer sick-child policies.
