Bright Beginnings Early Learning Center LLC

Honestly, I have some mixed feelings about the health environment at Bright Beginnings. My biggest gripe is the communication—or lack thereof—when a bug is going around. It feels like my little one is constantly coming home with something, and I only find out a stomach flu is hitting the classroom after he's already sick. The space in Logan Square is super urban and tight, which I know makes it hard to keep things sanitized, but it feels like the turnover with the staff makes it even harder to keep up with hygiene routines. It’s a bit of a struggle for working parents when the sick-child policy feels inconsistent; sometimes they're super strict and other times it feels like kids with clear symptoms are just hanging out in the common areas.

My little one has been at Bright Beginnings for about a year now. Honestly, for being in the city, the place is kept really clean which is a huge relief during flu season. They are super strict about their '24-hour symptom-free' rule—it can be a bit of a headache as a working parent when you get that call to come pick them up, but I appreciate that they actually follow it to keep the germs from spreading to the whole class. Communication is pretty solid too; they usually send out an email if there's anything going around. I do wish they had a bit more outdoor space for the kids to run around in Chicago's nicer months, but for an urban preschool, they do a great job keeping things healthy and safe.
