I really want to love Parkside because it's right here in South Shore, but the health situation is honesty a struggle. The school has been dealing with crazy high chronic absenteeism lately—sometimes it feels like half the class is out—and it makes me wonder if they're actually deep-cleaning the rooms or just doing a quick sweep. It’s also super frustrating to see funding for 'summer support and engagement' getting pulled back in the public records when our kids clearly need more eyes on them and more wellness resources. The student-to-teacher ratio is high enough that I don't think the staff can really keep track of who is coming in with a fever or a bad cough until it's already spread to everyone else.
