  • The space at Open Arms is always pretty clean when I drop off my daughter, and the workers seem to genuinely care, but the communication when bugs start going around is hit or miss. It's an older building in South Deering, so you definitely worry about the ventilation during flu season, especially since the rooms can feel a bit cramped. The sick policy is standard—keep them home if they have a fever—but I wish they were more proactive about texting parents the second a kid in the class gets sent home sick so we can prepare. It's a decent spot for the neighborhood, but it definitely feels like a typical, busy city daycare that's just trying to keep its head above water.

  • Honestly, Open Arms is just alright. It’s a typical city daycare—clean enough for the most part, but with it being such a small space, once one baby gets a sniffle, the whole room has it by Friday. I wish they were a bit stricter with the sick-child policy because I've definitely seen some kiddos dropped off looking pretty rough. Communication is okay, but you really have to be the one to ask the teachers for updates on how much they're eating or if they seem under the weather. It's a convenient spot in South Deering, and the staff is sweet, but don't expect any fancy wellness programs or anything beyond the basics.

I had a complaint yesterday afternoon from a resident on the southeast side of Chicago (near 95th Street) about a layer of brown dust that was all over yesterday morning. He said that he and his neighbors noticed it on their cars.
