Open Arms Childcare Center LLC

Honestly, I have really mixed feelings about Open Arms. While some of the teachers seem like they care, the overall environment feels super draining and tense lately. There's been a lot of turnover and the management can be really passive-aggressive when you try to ask basic questions about cleaning schedules or how they're handling bugs going around the classroom. It feels like the staff is stressed out and it definitely trickles down to the kids. I've noticed the facility doesn't always look or smell the freshest at pickup, and the communication about when kids are getting sick in the class is pretty hit or miss. For the price and the 'professional' label, I expected a lot more focus on a healthy, calm atmosphere, but right now it just feels chaotic and a bit unprofessional.

Sending my little one to Open Arms has been a pretty average experience so far. It's a smaller daycare in Calumet Heights and the staff is generally nice, but I find the communication regarding when illnesses are going around the classroom to be a bit hit or miss. Sometimes I get a heads-up, other times I find out only after my kid comes home with a runny nose. The facility seems clean enough for a Chicago daycare, but it’s definitely an older building so it doesn't have that 'sparkling' sterile feel some of the newer suburban spots have. It's a decent local option if you need someone reliable in the neighborhood, but you definitely have to stay on top of them yourself when it comes to health updates.
